A Message from Gaza

From the valley of tears, from blood-drenched Gaza, whose one and a half million residents have been robbed of the joy they once had in their hearts, I send you these words of faith and hope. As for love, that's a word that even we Christians no longer dare utter, not even to ourselves. Today, the priests of the church are raising the banner of hope. May God have mercy and pity on us and leave a remnant in Gaza. May he not put out the light of Christ, which was spread by the deacon Philip at the time of the early church. May the compassion of Christ be what reawakens our love for God, which is currently like a patient in a hospital's intensive care unit....

....We want you to pray to God fervently and continually and to mention the suffering in Gaza before God in every mass or service that you hold. I send short letters with Scripture to the Christian community here to bring hope to their hearts. We have all agreed to say the following prayer every hour on the hour:

"O God of peace, shower us with peace. O God of peace, bring peace to our land. Have mercy on your people, O Lord, and do not be angry with us forever."

I ask you to stand up now and say the same prayer. Your prayers with us will stir the world, showing it that any type of love that is not extended to your brothers and sisters in Gaza is not the love of Christ and His church, which does not let religious and social obstacles or even wars stand in its way. When your love is extended to us here in Gaza, it makes us feel that we are an indispensable part of Christ's one universal church. The Moslems among us are our brothers and sisters. We share with them their joys and their sufferings. We are one people, the people of Palestine.

Let us all pray together for the true peace that Christ gives. May wolves and lambs one day live together, and bulls and cubs graze together, and children be able to put their hands in the mouths of snakes without being harmed.

And may the peace of Christ, "into which you were also called in one body," be with you all and protect you. Amen.

Your brother,
Father Manuel Musallam

After all we're only human

This is Janey again trying to rescuscitate her blog after three failed atempts and now suffering from dyslexia and lack of ability to spell cause she is in the sicky and is tired. Also because of the magical powers of music and how it changes your mood so quickly. Now, mr.shuffle is playing some praise songs .What next. Ok random stops now. Lets hope so....
So, its the new year people .You ready ??? I'm not.
Hmmm..Lets see where this post leads me. Well, I was gonna talk about the year that was but that was the past and it was amazing beyond words so lets not spoil that. Then, lets talk about the future .10 years ?20 years? Meh, lets go 2 weeks .I will be back in 2 weeks and I'm not sure how I really feel about it. On one hand I am really happy to be reunited again with mates but who doesn't absolutely love their hometown. They have been amazing and so kind through out my stay, I feel like I've never left. Ahhh... the comfort of home and all that is familiar :) It is such a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Going back also means school and lots of change and not knowing what to expect. Friends? Studies? Timetable? Electives? Sport? I guess, its normal. Its not very hard to constantly question your future .Whats gonna happen after high school ?What am I going to eat tommorow? Its all part of our human instinct.
We always wonder and then we worry. Alot. Why is it so hard to just leave it be? Leave it be like how we are persistently told in the Word in Matthew 6:25-34. Leave it to The Hand that has provided for you even before you were concieved. I mean He HAS provided for everyone since the beginning of time....

Matthew6:26
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Besides...He knows what he's doing you know.

Jeremiah29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I think I've talked the walk long enough, time to walk the talk. Anyone care to join me ?
